For the Clippers, Derrick Jones Jr. achieved a career-high by scoring 29 points, while Kevin Porter Jr. added 26 points, as reported by CBS News. Despite their commendable efforts, the Clippers were unable to secure the win.
Both teams faced the challenge of competing without key players. The Celtics were missing Jrue Holiday (shoulder), Al Horford (toe), and Kristaps Porzingis (illness). The Clippers, on the other hand, were without four starters: Kawhi Leonard (rest), James Harden (groin), Norman Powell (back), and Ivica Zubac (eye). Additionally, Nicolas Batum (finger) and Kris Dunn (knee) were sidelined as reported by Reuters.
The contest was tightly contested throughout, as noted by Yahoo! Sports. The Clippers managed to tie the game in the final minute of regulation, forcing overtime. In the extra period, the Celtics gained momentum with early three-pointers from Derrick White and Jayson Tatum. A decisive layup by Neemias Queta in the closing seconds sealed the victory for Boston.
Despite the absence of key players, both teams showcased depth and adaptability. The Celtics’ ability to rely on their bench, with contributions from players like Sam Hauser, highlighted their roster’s versatility. The Clippers, utilizing a makeshift lineup that included Mo Bamba and Kevin Porter Jr. making their second starts of the season, maintained competitiveness by accelerating their offensive pace.
The Celtics continue their road trip with an upcoming game against the Los Angeles Lakers, aiming to maintain their winning momentum. The Clippers will seek to rebound in their next matchup as they navigate through injuries to key players.
This hard-fought game underscored the resilience and depth of both teams, setting an exciting tone for the remainder of the season.

In order to finalize the move, Houston waived Chris Clemons. Clemons, who is currently out with an ACL injury, played 33 games for the Rockets last season and averaged 4.9 points.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise, considering that Cleveland made the decision to part ways with Kevin Porter earlier this week. The USC product clashed with one Cavs’ official after re-joining the team following a lengthy absence, which, coupled with his previous problematic behavior, prompted the organization to move on.
The Rockets are hoping to have a better chance of helping Porter overcome off-the-field issues and have a successful NBA career. The 20-year-old is expected to work closely with assistant John Lucas, who has a history of helping troubled players bounce back and become a factor in the league.
Porter averaged 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists last season with the Cavs. He hasn’t played a single game in 2020/21.
