Prior to going to the salon have you ever wondered if you should wash your hair? Sometimes we’re so busy during the week that we didn’t have time to wash our hair and besides, they usually wash your hair at the salon. We’re here to answer this question once and for all.

Well, it turns out that washing or not washing your hair before going to the salon depends on what type of haircut you’re getting. If you’re getting a dry cut, you’ll want to have freshly washed hair before heading to the salon. If you’re getting a wet cut, which most salons do, you don’t need to wash your hair before your appointment.

For a coloring appointment, you’ll want to come to the salon with clean, dry hair. And for a hairstyling appointment, you’ll want to show up with hair that’s clean, but not too clean. For this type of appointment, it’s best to wash your hair the day prior so your hair is completely dry by the time you head to the salon. Second-day hair is also easier to work with and hold a style better.

When in doubt, just call your hair salon and ask them if you should wash your hair prior to your appointment. But in general, don’t get too worked up about it as your hairstylist has dealt with these issues before.
