Gucci has announced that they will soon be going carbon neutral.

Large corporations often significantly contribute to rising levels of CO2 emissions into the environment. CO2 is linked to global warming and damage to the ozone layer. Going carbon neutral means that the company will be making no net release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Basically, this is great news for the environment and eco-conscious fashion lovers.

To achieve their goal, Gucci have teamed up with Redd+. They will be working on four projects that support forest conservations in Kenya, Peru, Indonesia, and Cambodia. This will offset the CO2 emissions they are unable to reduce.

In an interview with The Guardian, Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri said: “The more time that goes by, the more reports from the scientists are clear – the planet has gone too far.”

Speaking about the impact of Fashion Week, Bizzarri said: “The best thing is not to stop fashion week, but to have [them] at the table and to work together so we can do something together. That doesn’t mean people shouldn’t protest, I think it is a democracy and they should do it as long as it’s not violent. But to me, the final aim of all this should be activists and companies working together to find common ground.”
