]]>Henna freckles have been a huge trend recently, especially on TikTok. Some love them and others hate them, but nobody can deny that they are one of the most popular beauty trends right now. Henna is often used for temporary tattoos and is considered to be safe for skin, but drawing freckles on with henna does come with certain risks.
The most important thing to pay attention to is the type of henna you’re using. There are many henna dyes that are meant to be used for hair coloring and those should never bee used on the face. This type of henna is actually illegal to use on the skin, according to the FDA.
In order to avoid potential harm, look for naturally-derived dyes, preferably from a henna artist who has experience using them on the skin. Don’t forget to do a patch test before committing!

]]>Redheads are more likely to have freckles because their skin is usually fairer which makes them more susceptible to sunburn. Whether you’re a redhead or you just have freckles, it’s best to protect your skin from the sun which can cause wrinkles, sunspots, and cancer.
Try and limit your sun exposure between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. because that’s when the sun is the strongest. If you are outside between these hours, always use sun protection. This includes sunscreen, hats, and clothing with SPF built-in.
Also, if you have freckles try and avoid using products with retinol which will may you more sensitive to the sun, and if you do use these products, only use them at night.
Another thing to be on the lookout for if you have freckles is checking for moles which may be signs of skin cancer. To determine if you are looking at a freckle or mole, remember that freckles are flat, tan or light brown, and don’t change in size. Moles are raised and change over time.
