]]>You may have noticed that the oils taste different and this isn’t the only difference. Olive oil is also lighter in color, it’s cheaper, and more neutral in flavor than extra virgin olive oil. The oil is a blend of cold-pressed olive oil and all the natural impurities have been removed either chemically or through heat. This makes it able to withstand higher temperatures.
Extra virgin olive oil is a higher quality oil with a richer flavor and its darker in color. Unlike olive oil, it hasn’t been exposed to chemicals or heat, which makes it have a lower smoke point and it’s easier to burn.
This depends on what you plan on using the oil for. If you want to want to use it for cooking, get regular olive oil and if you want it for dressings or dips, extra virgin olive oil is what you should buy. Extra virgin olive oil also works for cooking, just be careful not to burn it.
