]]>If you’re growing your hair, you won’t want to hear this, but it’s impossible to avoid. The truth is, if your hair is split at the ends, dry, and damaged, it won’t grow quickly or steadily in this state. Damage can travel up the hair, from the tip to the root, so that it can start to feel like despite months of hard work, your hair is hardly growing at all. Go to the hair salon and explain that you’re growing it – your stylist will take an inch or two off the bottom, leaving your strands feeling refreshed and healthy.
Store bought hair masks often contain silicones and sulfates, which may make your hair feel glossy, but in fact offer little in terms of genuine hair health. Make your own mask, by whisking the whites of two eggs into half a cup of melted coconut oil. Add one tablespoon of honey, and one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, blend these ingredients into the mix. Apply to damp hair, leave for as long as possible, and then rinse.
If you’re applying a mask or conditioner, increase the potency by wrapping your coated hair in plastic, such as clingfilm. Doing this means that the heat from your scalp activates the ingredients in the mask, allowing them to penetrate deeper into each hair. Wrapping also lets you go about your chores and daily activities, without dripping conditioner all over your house.
