]]> The Converse X Carhartt WIP Collab launched last week, and the Chuck 70s are reworked with Carhatt WIP’s tough camouflage prints and brown duck canvas. The best part of the limited-edition sneakers is that they use upcycled Carhatt fabric, making each pair unique. The collection is part of Converse’s ongoing Renew program which uses materials that would have ended up in landfills.

Converse is committed to finding solutions to make products that use post-consumer and post-industrial waste to develop more sustainable options. The sneakers are made of 1,000 pre-worn canvas Carhartt work jackets, trousers, and overalls sourced by Beyond Retro, a vintage shop in London, England.

The campaign’s photo features a person wearing paint-splattered carpenter jeans with a pair of tri-colored brown, navy, and gray high-top shoes. The two-toned styles have signature branding elements blended with a Carhartt WIP logo sewn onto the tongue and the Converse All Star logo visible on the sides.

The “Hamilton Brown” and “Green Camo” designs were released on May 28 in limited quantities on Converse.com and Carhartt-WIP.com and at select retailers.

]]> Converse is one of those brands that have always been making shoes and clothes that pretty much anyone can wear, and now they’re taking things one step further. Their new collection called “Shapes” is coming our way – and it’s also their first-ever gender-neutral line.

Converse will introduce this collection in fall this year, and they’re describing it as a “new type of apparel essential”. It will feature five pieces in four sizes, including Bubble crew, Box tee, short sleeve tee, Triangle Front chino, and Triangle PO hoodie.

Through inclusive design, intelligent sizing, and sustainably-sourced materials—Shapes is a new type of apparel essential. We started the design process from an atypical place, with the opportunity to reimagine construction, sizing and materials.⁠ ⁠ Geometric pieces were constructed to fit: with pleats, gussets, and unique seams allowing for ease of movement. This approach to construction allows us to accommodate the widest possible variety of body shapes within only four sizes globally, (traditionally there are 14 common sizes across men’s and women’s lines).⁠ ⁠ The collection is not designed for gender, but instead for body shape, created from the belief that size is a reference point, not an identity.⁠

According to Jonathan Tappan, president of global apparel at Converse, the goal of this collection is to really change the game by bringing functionality, inclusivity, and comfort to everyday clothes.

“When starting design from a non-traditional place, there are endless opportunities to reimagine everything from construction to sizing to materials. ‘SHAPES’ is the perfect example of how to meet the consumer in their element,” said Tappan in a press release.
