]]> Even if your make-up brushes look clean, chances are, if you haven’t cleaned them in more than a couple of weeks, there is some bacteria growth there. Here’s a simple cleaning process you can do once a week to keep your brushes fresh.

Cleaning Solution

Find a gentle liquid soap or baby shampoo, and mix a small amount with water.

Clean the Brushes

Dip the wet brush into the cleaning solution. Gently swirl the brush in your hand to help remove the built-up makeup. Be careful not to wet the metal part connecting the bristles to the handle because it can weaken the glue over time.

Rinse Thoroughly

Rinse the brush under running water, keeping the bristles pointing downwards to prevent water from getting into the handle and glue. 

Shape the Brushes and Remove Excess Water

Reshape the brush bristles with your fingers if they get misshapen during cleaning. Then, gently squeeze the excess water out of the brush using a clean towel or paper towel.

Dry

Finally, lay the brushes flat on a clean towel so that they can dry naturally. It’s best to let them rest overnight so that they’re completely dry by your next use.
