Although most recipes often call for butter and sugar, you can feel better about them knowing that the nuts themselves provide a lot of great nutrients like protein, fiber, and iron. Candied nuts don’t take long to make and need no special equipment, so let’s get cooking!

Walnuts

If you have 10 minutes to spare, you can make this recipe for candied walnuts. Combine walnuts, sugar, and butter in a pan until the sugar is melted, which should only take about 5 minutes. Spread on a parchment-lined baking sheet, wait until it’s the sugar has set on the nuts and you can eat them right away! If you are looking to sweeten up something like a Waldorf salad, swap your regular walnuts for some of these instead!

Pecans

Candied pecans are a staple at the holidays, but can and should be celebrated all year long. Combine salt, water, brown sugar, and vanilla in a bowl. Toast the pecans in a pan, then pour in the sugar mixture and coat evenly. Put on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and you’re ready to enjoy!
