For many, campness is a quality which is associated with homosexuality. Although this has been the case since the 19th century, the relationship between the two is a fairly modern idea. The exhibition explores how campness has historically been bound up with a deep love of art and character. It has been a form of profound self-expression and celebration, exploring fashion as something that can be theatrical, as well as personal.
