Most of us have been embarrassed at some point due to a stupid pose. Not all of us are natural models, yet there some tricks that you can master to ensure that you never have a red-faced photo moment again.

Use your tongue

Everybody is afraid of the dreaded double-chin. After a long and inactive winter, you might have packed on a couple and this usually shows in your face.

Press your tongue against the roof of your mouth when you smile. It causes your jaw to tighten and makes the double chin disappear.

Tilt

When you face a camera head-on, it creates no shadow. This makes your face look wider and larger.

Instead, tilt your head slightly up or down and look slightly above your usual line of sight. This causes some shadows to ‘fool’ the camera.

Cross your ankles

If you’re facing a camera head-on, cross your legs at the calf. This stance makes your legs look longer and your hips narrower.

Learn to smile

Let’s be honest, smiling in front of a camera can feel awkward. It is not something that comes naturally to most people.

If you smile too big, you end up looking dorky, no smile at all and you look depressed and broody. Practice the relaxed smile when no camera is on you.
