]]>Pashkevych is using thread and needle to translate iconic paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, Klimt, and other masters into these intricate and beautiful brooches that you can wear on a sweater. In an interview with My Modern Met, the artist said that embroidery is a “slow craft” and she usually cannot estimate the time needed for creating her tiny brooches.
“The complexity and execution time of a brooch can vary greatly. A simple brooch usually takes five hours,” she said. This means that she needs many hours to create more complex and detailed artworks. For example, when she worked on her recreation of Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Ira needed a week to finish this intricate piece.
