Eczema is not only an irritating skin condition, it can be painful too. Flare-ups can be more common during winter when the air is cold and dry, but there are also certain ingredients which can make eczema rear its itchy head. Here is what to steer clear of.

Alpha-hydroxy Acids

Numerous skincare products contain alpha-hydroxy acids which, thankfully, are also known as the far easier-to-say AHAs. While they can be a milder form of exfoliant than traditional scrubs, AHAs also have the potential to be drying and irritating for one’s skin.

Fragrances

Double-check the ingredients list on the product, even if it claims to be fragrance-free.

Retinoids

Retinoids have become one of the latest buzzwords in skincare, with almost everyone using retinol in their routine. Although retinoids can be extremely beneficial for wrinkles, and even acne, the harsh ingredient is often too strong for eczema.
