How to Be More Active at Work

It turns out that most modern-day jobs are sedentary, which means that most people are required to sit at a desk for most of the day. Prolonged sitting can have serious health consequences, but there are a few things you can do to combat the effects of sitting and be more active at work.

Get up Every Hour

People who sit down for 8 hours every day at work should definitely take a short break every hour to get up and move around the office for a few minutes. Also, use your lunch breaks to go for a quick walk around the block and you’ll notice the benefits for your body very soon.

Adjust Your Seating Situation

Optimizing your workstation is essential if you want to be comfortable at work and prevent any back pain or injuries. In order to ensure this, your chair should be adjusted so your knees are level with your hips and the monitor should be at eye level. It’s also extremely important to think about your posture all the time if you want to avoid back pain.

Do Some Stretching

Even if this looks impossible, we can all sneak some stretching into our busy work schedule. There are a few very simple exercises you can easily do at your desk and they would take only a few minutes of your time.

[Day 28/100] Moved to a different area of my office so I can use a standing desk. Love having the flexibility to switch between sitting and standing! Definitely going to invest in a standing desk at home 🙌 ° I'm sat with the testing team now instead of my algorithm team and it's so fascinating watching them experimenting with different hardware and prototyping in matlab! I've been more software based these days so my inner robotic engineer gets so excited at this kinda stuff 🙈 ° We only have a week left in our Lewes office before we move to Burgess Hill. Lewes is such a beautiful old town, I'd definitely recommend paying it a visit if you're in the south! Gonna miss the smell of fresh bread in the air and the sound of Motown singers down by the river 😭😫 ° Code-wise today was awesome and I'm actually in such a good mood! Been trying to compare and match the components of 2 vectors of 2d features together without using any open source functions from OpenCV but instead doing it from scratch. Sounds simple enough but I've been working on it for the past 3 days! Managed to get my program to run successfully at 5.30pm on the dot 😂😂 Home time! The coding gods were definitely on my side today🤸‍♀️ ° Sigh dont you just love when code behaves 🥰 Can I get an AMEN! Eid Mubarak to all those celebrating 🙌 #OpenCV #computervision #steminist #womeninbusiness #girlboss #brighton #blackintech #brightonengineer #pocintech #womenwhocode #womeninstem #girlswhocode #learntocode #standingdesk #womenintech #codepeople #lovecoders #codeclique #thedevlife #dayinthelife #theiet #eidmubarak
