Home Decor: Staples of Scandinavian Style

We don’t have to tell you that Scandinavian style is currently the biggest home decor hit. If you want to create a modern and cozy atmosphere in your own home, these are the basic rules you should follow.

Minimalism

Get rid of the clutter and invest in a few staple pieces that stand out. Complete the room with a limited number of matching details. They say that decluttering the home helps declutter the mind, so it’s worth a try.

Focus on Black, White, and Gray

Black, white, and everything in between should serve as a starting point. This way, all your furniture will look great next to each other and getting new pieces won’t cause headaches. If you already have good furniture that doesn’t match this style, painting it white should be enough.

Pastel, Copper, and Plants

Once you have your monochrome basics, you can add details in pastel and copper tones. Plants will perfectly warm up the space and make it more comfortable. Low-maintenance cacti are a great choice.

Use Wood Wherever You Can

Whenever in doubt, choose wood. Pick a neutral color, preferably lighter, but note that all wooden tones usually go great with Scandinavian style. It’s all a matter of preference

Geometry is a Must

When choosing rugs and curtains, your best  bet is to go with a geometric pattern. Alternatively, stripes are a great option too.

Designer Furniture Will Make Your Home Unique

If you like Scandinavian style but don’t want to have a home that looks the same as all the others, spice things up with a piece or two of designer furniture. Doing that will not only give you a unique and fun corner, but your whole place will automatically look more expensive.
