Are Naps Healthy or Not?

A lot of people struggle to get through the day without a nap, while some people resist it and opt for a caffeinated drink instead. But what is the better option? Force yourself to stay awake because you think it’s healthy or give in and take a nap? The answer is that sometimes naps can be healthy, but you can easily make them unhealthy for your body, so if you do love to nap, follow these tips!

Why You Should Nap

There are a lot of reasons to nap. If you have to work for a long time and need a boost, or if you know you won’t be sleeping a lot at night because of an early wake-up call, napping is a great choice to make.

Time

The amount of time you should actually be napping for is a lot shorter than most people expect. A nap should actually only occur for 10-20 minutes, and it should happen before 3:00 pm or you could disrupt your sleep cycle. The reason why you want to keep it short is that it can make you feel groggy if you do sleep for too long, so make sure to set an alarm!

Environment

Wherever you nap, you want to try to make it as dark and quiet as possible. You don’t want to be distracted from your nap or it will take you longer to fall asleep, and you won’t feel as well rested after.
